ATLAS (the computer people for the College of LAS), has internship positions available for Fall 2016.
The ATLAS Internship Program gives students the opportunity to add technical skills to the skills gained through coursework and apply them in real world working situations. All positions either directly utilize technology through various programming and software skills or are in support of technical processes and rely heavily on analysis and communication skills.
All majors are encouraged to apply. The level of technical knowledge required before starting the positions varies by project.
Samples of past projects include:
- working with clients on website evaluation, content strategy, and website development,
- using electronic channels to improve communications within an organization and with their clients,
- analyzing help documentation and converting materials to more optimized searchable knowledgebase, and
- evaluating existing organizational data and designing a database to be used for internal metrics.
ATLAS works with the LAS Academic units and clients to ensure positions meet defined objectives so that students can opt to earn course credit for their internship. Most positions require a student to be available 10 – 15 hours/week through 15 week semesters. Arrangements can be made for projects that require a longer or shorter timeframe.
