The Art Institute of Chicago is hosting a museum career awareness event – Jobs at Art Museums (JAM). JAM is a FREE all-day museum event for students, staff, and faculty. This is Feb 15 from 10:30am to 5:00pm at 111 South Michigan Ave in Chicago.
Organized annually by the Institutional Relations and Learning & Public Engagement departments at the Art Institute, JAM is made possible by contributions from the University Partner Program. All University Partners receive special access to the Art Institute, including but not limited to free admission for students, exclusive University Nights with dedicated events, concierge services for planned visits, and the opportunity for a University staff member to join the University Partner Steering Committee.
This year, JAM will offer student-led gallery presentations, a panel conversation with Art Institute staff, a Human Resources presentation, intimate breakout sessions with museum professionals representing a variety of departments and fields, and a reception where students can learn about upcoming internship and career opportunities and socialize with peers, faculty, museum staff, and intern alumni. Many of these breakout session topics bridge the divide between the art world and the fields of communications, education, English, psychology, and more.
Museum Staff Breakout Session topics will include, among others:
- Academic Engagement & Research
- American Art
- Community Relations & Partnerships
- Digital Marketing
- Interactive Learning Environments
- Learning & Public Engagement
- Public Programs
- School Programs
- Youth & Family Programs
There are many departments in the museum that encapsulate so many different subject areas- there’s something for everyone!
